The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is moving toward building a wind farm on its reservation in south-central North Dakota, with efforts being made to avoid sacred sites as tribal officials pinpoint locations for each turbine.
On behalf of the Board of SAGE Development Authority/Anpetu Wi Wind Farm, we extend our heartfelt condolences and support to the family, friends, and loved ones of our dear friend and relative LaDonna Tamakawastewin (Good Earth Woman) Brave Bull Allard, who has joined her beloved husband Miles Allard across the Milky Way to our families that wait for our coming home.
LaDonna Brave Bull Allard, Standing Rock Sioux tribal historian, has died of cancer at the age of 64, and we look back on her work, through interviews on her land and in the Democracy Now! studio.
BOSTON — Native Americans in Massachusetts are calling on the organizers of the Boston Marathon to move the already rescheduled date for the storied race because it now conflicts with a day meant to commemorate the contributions of Indigenous people.
BISMARCK, N.D. — A judge on Friday delayed a decision on whether the Dakota Access Oil pipeline should be shut down while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducts an environmental review on the project, after lawyers for the pipeline asked for more time to outline the effects of recent changes in the economy.
The fate of the Dakota Access pipeline could be decided at a U.S. court hearing Friday, where federal regulators could set in motion a months-long shutdown of the line while the Biden Administration completes an environmental review.
The Anpetu Wi wind farm needs your support
Anpetu Wi (“morning light”) will be the single largest revenue source for Standing Rock, which we plan to reinvest into future projects and Standing Rock as a whole. We need your support to ensure this wind farm remains owned and operated by the people of Standing Rock for generations to come.
Please share and support.
$208,739.61 raised toward our goal
Funding for Anpetu Wi will be used to complete pre-development studies, operationalize the SAGE Development Authority management organization, and prepare for full project development in order to make the wind farm a reality for Standing Rock, as a critical step toward self-determination, now and into the future.
