The talk will be followed by a live Q&A with the audience.

For the Lakota-Dakota people and many other indigenous cultures, the winter solstice is a sacred day of renewal, remembrance, and thanks. The solstice marks the beginning of the seasonal transition into Waníyetu “Winter,” a time during which many Lakota-Dakota people traditionally share Ohúŋkakaŋ “stories from the distant past” and Wičhówoyake “stories, legends, myth.” It is a day that many Lakota-Dakota will offer a prayer much in the same way their ancestors did.
